Library & Accelerated Reader

Library

Calvary Academy’s library contains a comprehensive collection of books and periodicals. Students in grades K-5 visit the library for a scheduled 30-minute library time each week. Junior High students have independent access to the library to check out books. The goal of the library program is to encourage students to develop a love for reading.

Accelerated Reader

Calvary’s library primarily supports the school’s Accelerated Reader Program. This program is designed to complement the school’s existing classroom reading/literacy curriculum by increasing the amount of time students spend reading independently. The program monitors reading practice and progress. Students choose books that are reading level appropriate and test on each book to measure comprehension. The goal of the Accelerated Reader Program is to develop life long readers and to improve student reading skills by providing consistent feedback on student progress.

Specific information for current parents regarding the Accelerated Reader program is listed under the “Parent Resource” tab on the website.
